DC Baramullah Visit Gulmarg to conclude IISM ski course.

​Gulmarg 16 Jan 2023: Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar (IAS), DC Baramullah visited Gulmarg to facilitate 2nd ski course of Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM). In this course 80 students from all over the country including 35 girl students successfully completed the course. She was invited as chief guest by the institute. Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah (IAS), CEO ERA/Mission Director Jal Jeevan was also invited as a special guest to encourage the students.


Col J S Dhillon who has revived this institute welcomed the guests and briefed them about the institute and various activities being undertaken by it. He appreciated the help received from the Government and local authorities to help him and his team to revive this institute which has become one the best adventure school of our nation.


Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar gave the prizes to the winners of different events of the course and complimented the students for successful completion. She said that after this course you all will be the ambassadors of Kashmir and will share your experience with your peers about the beauty of Kashmir and hospitality of Kashmiri people. She appreciated the efforts of Col Dhillon and his staff to maintain a very high standard of training and administration. She said Institute is the best platform to develop bonding amongst the youth of the nation. Due to risks involved, she advised the students to be very careful when undertaking such activities. She emphasized the importance of the safety and sustainability. She said such activities should always be planned in an eco friendly manner. She appreciated the management skills of Col J S Dhillon and promised all help from administration to further develop this Institute by installing all its training infrastructure and homologation of its ski slopes.
Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah also complemented the students and briefed them about the value of this course in not only promotion of adventure tourism as also help them to develop their overall personality through exposure to challenging weather conditions in extreme cold temperatures. He said such adventure skills generate huge employment opportunity for the local youth. He narrated his school day experience when he himself did ski course in Gulmarg and told the students that he cannot forget those movement in his life. He said that students from different parts of the county join IISM courses and train alongwith the local youth making IISM as one of the best platform of national integration. This ceremony was also attended by CEO GDA, SDM Tangmarg, SDPO Tangmarg and various other dignitaries.
​Institute provides centrally heated hostel to students and nutritious food during the training. It has become so popular that all its courses are booked within few minutes whenever admissions are opened online on its portal.
