Baramulla March 10: The Ist Round of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Program drive commenced today in Baramulla. District Development Commissioner, Dr.GN Itoo accompanied by Chief Medical officer Baramulla, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo inaugurates the Pulse Polio immunization drive by administering Oral Polio vaccine to a baby that was born just two hours before in the District Hospital Baramulla.
President Muncipal Council Baramulla Omar Kakroo,Dy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jozy Bashir, Medical Superintendent Dr Syed Masood, District Immunization Officer, Dr. Shabir Pathan, BMO Sheeri Dr Farooq Ahmad and other officers and officials were also present on the occasion.
It was informed that a total of 1,60,185 children are to be immunized during the Ist phase of the IPPI in district Baramulla, for which 833 vaccination booths have been put in place. As many as 3380 employees from health department, ASHA workers,ICDS and other volunteers will perform their duty including Health workers, ASHA Workers and Aganwari workers .Besides various Transit Camps and several Mobile camps have also been established across the district for places like railway stations, Bus addas, etc.
The DDC, meanwhile, called for extensive and coordinative efforts from the deployed machinery, so that every child below the age of five years in the district is covered under the programme.
Moreover polio both was also established in the slum area of Baramulla where CMO accompanied by President Muncipal council Baramulla and Dy CMO inaugurates the drive.
