DC B’la reviews winter arrangements in view of inclement weather conditions

Baramulla January 29: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a meeting of officers from various line departments to assess the arrangements for winter in view of the advisory predicting inclement weather conditions.

The DC reviewed department wise arrangements in place for smooth supply of essentials including water, electricity, ration and medical care, besides timely road clearance to ensure smooth movement of vehicles.

Minga Sherpa directed the Superintending Engineer PHE to ensure uninterrupted water supply to all subdivisions in the district and to compile a comprehensive list of available water tankers for public access and convenience.

Additionally, The DC instructed the revenue department to identify electric poles at risk of falling during snowfalls and directed the PDD officials for their prompt replacement to prevent any disruptions in uninterrupted power supply.

Minga Sherpa further directed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to ensure that manpower and machinery are prepared to address any emergencies and urged them to conduct training programs for volunteers to effectively address the requirements during adverse weather conditions.

Regarding road clearance measures, the officials from Mechanical department informed the meeting that necessary machinery has been stationed to promptly respond to any road clearance needs that may arise.

Furthermore, the DC emphasized the importance of insulating water pipes to prevent freezing and directed the officials to prioritize the clearance of snow from parking areas at tourist places to enhance the overall experience for visiting tourists during the winter season.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Additional Deputy Commisoner Baramulla, Additional Deputy Commisoner Sopore, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers from PHE, PDD, R&B while the officers from other Sub-divisions joined the meeting through virtual mode.
