DDC chairperson polls in 5 J&K districts today, interesting contest in Ramban

By: KD Desk

Date:

Srinagar, Feb 13 : As chairpersons and vice-chairpersons for at least five districts in Jammu and Kashmir are being elected today, the polls in Ramban may throw a surprise amid reported confusion between National Conference and Congress.

Sources said that Azaad Itihaad Group (AIG) which is reportedly backed by J&K Apni Party may spring a surprise even as independents are keen to have non-BJP candidate elected for the vice-chairperson post. Equally, they said, the PAGD (NC) and Congress are confident to win the DDC chairperson and vice-chairperson elections.

The polls are being held in Rajouri, Kishtwar and Poonch besides Ramban in Jammu division and Bandipora in Kashmir Valley.

The NC and Congress are confident to win in Kishtwar, Poonch where 8 independents were elected, as also in Rajouri and Bandipora. (GNS)
