Bandipora, Dec 08: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party leader Nazah Begum wins Hajin-A DDC seat with 323 votes from Hajin constituency, with a close rivalry with NC candidate.
Nazah, from the Jammu Kashmir Apni party, secured a total of 2606 votes against her nearest rival candidate, from the Peoples Conference, who got 2283 votes, leaving a difference of just 323 votes between the two.
Speaking to the reporters, she said that her focus would remain on development and local issues in her constituency. She thanked all the voters who supported them and voted for her.
On the other hand, the National Conference candidate secured 2178 votes, and the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate (DAP) got 315 votes from the constituency.
Notably, the election for Hajin-A block had been cancelled at the time of counting when one of the contestants had entered wrong information in a declaration about their citizenship in Form 6 during registration as electors in 2019. The election for Hajin-A DDC seat had been held on December 5 in Hajin constituency.
Out of the 8579 votes polled, a total of 813 were declared invalid.
