Department of Radiation Oncology SKIMS conducts CME at Zakura

Srinagar, Nov 28 : The Department of Radiation Oncology SKIMS, conducted a CME “Triple Negative Breast Cancer-Evidence, Controversies, Consensus” on Friday at The Orchard Retreat Zakura.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir Despatch, a spokesperson said that the CME was an academic feast, where various aspects, pertaining to diagnosis and management of Triple Negative Breast Cancer were discussed threadbare by the luminaries in the field of oncology.

“On this occasion the speakers emphasized that Triple Negative Breast Cancer, which affects younger population more, is biologically more aggressive than the other variants and hence should be managed with multimodality approach as well as regular use of immunotherapy drugs like Pembrolizumab also,” reads the statement.

It reads that the CME was organized under the astute guidance of Professor Fir Afroz, HOD Radiation Oncology and Chairperson for the event, and was ably assisted by Dr Shaqul Qamar (Associate Prof) and Dr Shahida Nasreen (Assistant Prof) as Organizing Secretaries.

“At the outset Dr Shaqul Qamar gave a brief welcome address. Some of the dignitaries who participated in the CME include Professor Mohd Maqbool Lone, Professor Mohd Ashraf, Professor Shad Salim Akhtar, Prof Gul Mohammad Bhat, Professor Abdul Rashid Lone, Professor Syed Besina Yaseen, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Prof Farooq Ahmad Jan, Professor Javed Rasool, Prof Nazir A Khan.”

It reads that the CME concluded with a Panel Discussion followed by vote of thanks by Dr Shahida Nasreen.
