Detention centers have nothing to do with CAA, NRC: Amit Shah

Srinagar Dec 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that “detention centers are only meant for illegal immigrants and have nothing to do with Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) or National Register of Citizens (NRC)”.

HM Amit Shah asserted that the detention centers being built in the country have nothing to do with CAA and NRC but particularly meant for illegal immigrants.

“Detention centers have nothing to do with CAA or NRC. These have been there in India for many years, they have not been built by the Modi government”, said adding “These centers are only meant for illegal immigrants”.

He further said, “Detention centers are a continuous process. This country has some laws, we cannot let anyone who enters into the country illegally to live here. When these people get caught, they are put in detention centers for trial”.
