DGP reviews security arrangements for BDC elections, winter preparedness in Kupwara

Srinagar, October 22: To assess the Security situation Director General of Police Shri Dilbag Singh today visited District Kupwara where he took a round of the town and chaired a meeting of Police and CAPFs officers. He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Shri S.P Pani, DIG Central Kashmir Range Shri V. K. Birdhi.

DIG North Kashmir Range Shri M. Suleman Choudhary, SSP Kupwara Shri Shriram Ambarkar gave an overview of the security situation prevailing in the district.

The DGP reviewed the security arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of Block Development Council Elections. He emphasised upon officers to remain vigilant to thwart any nefarious design of anti- national elements. He said that the synergy among the forces has yielded good dividends and stressed for continuing coordinated efforts for the maintenance of peace and order.

The DGP while expressing his satisfaction over the overall security situation in the districts said that the measures taken by the Police with other forces has made it possible to maintain peace, law and order. He said that the people’s cooperation and the enhanced synergy among the forces has brought good results for the security of the people.

Discussing the infiltration bids by the terrorists supported by Pakistan, the DGP stressed to remain extra vigilant to foil any attempt of disrupting peace. He said that the intelligence grid along the border villages should be strengthened and the cooperation from the local populace is must to get better results.

The DGP also reviewed winter preparedness for Police and other forces deployed in the different areas of these districts and said that all arrangements be made to provide required facilities to the personnel during winters. He said that the supervisory officers should take care of the requirements and make necessary arrangements.

Shri Dilbag Singh took a round of the Kupwara town to assess the on ground security situation. He appreciated the enthusiasm of the youth of the district who have applied in large numbers for the SPOs recruitment. He emphasised upon the officers for the speedy completion of the recruitment process. The DGP also visited the Martyrs Memorial to pay respective to the Police martyrs. The DGP directed the officers to take care of families of the martyrs and said that the martyrs have sacrificed their precious lives for the security and sovereignty of the Nation.
