DHSK needs a complete overhaul: Usman Majid
Union Govt should intervene to end corruption, nepotism in J&K health services
SRINAGAR, September 24: Apni Party Vice President Usman Majid on Thursday urged the union government to intervene in order to end corruption and nepotism in the department of health services in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Apni Party vice president said that the people, especially the employees of the health department, crave for a glimpse of their head of the department who seldom visits his office
on the pretext of official meetings.
“The non- availability of the head of the department has caused disruption in the functioning of the department and inconvenience to the general public. In a recent order the government had asked the
bureaucrats not to attend the unnecessary meetings. However, these orders seem to have no takers in Kashmir’s health department,” he
remarked.
Usman added that some officers who are juniors in the hierarchy have been assigned plum postings in the health department owing to their proximity with the power corridors. “Some junior doctors in the health services have become blue eyed for their bosses resulting in injustice with the rights and merit of their senior officers in the department.”
Usman observed that some officers in the J&K administration especially in the health department assume that they are unaccountable because of
their close proximity with the power corridors.
“The union home ministry and the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha must intervene and save the prestige of the health services department particularly in Kashmir division where it has become a den of
favoritism, nepotism and malpractices,” he pleaded.
Usman, however, acknowledged and appreciated the relentless services of the doctors, para medical staff, HDF workers and ASHA workers in
the field for serving to protect the people from deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
