Did Birjees Budroo commit suicide or she was murdered?

The tragic death of Haseena Bano, known as Birjees Budroo, has sparked a heated debate between her elderly siblings and the deceased’s grieving children over the cause of her demise. While the police continue their investigation, both parties present conflicting narratives that have left the community in distress.

The late Birjees Budroo was found lifeless at her residence in Model Town Sopore on July 20, leading to conflicting claims from her husband and her siblings. Her husband insists that it was a case of suicide, while the siblings alleges foul play and points to the possibility of murder.

In an emotional plea, Birjees’s brother recounted the distressing events leading up to her untimely death. He expressed suspicion over the circumstances, citing inconsistencies in her husband’s account and revealing an audio recording of Birjees’s last call, hinting at possible strangulation.

However, in a surprising twist, Birjees’s children have stepped forward to debunk their aunt and uncle’s claims. They assert that their mother had been burdened by debt for over 15 years, and on the unfortunate day, she was visibly tense and had a heated argument with her husband and daughter. Her daughter claimed to witness the entire exchange and stated that after the argument, Birjees had a phone conversation with a stranger before closing the door.

“She used to remain tense whenever there was a call from the debtor. It has been happening for the last 15 years and she used to be tense,” the deceased’s daughter said.

According to her son, who resides in London, his mother’s siblings had allegedly abandoned her for years, offering no assistance. He questioned their sudden involvement in the case and accused them of trying to falsely implicate their father.

The son further argued that it was plausible for Birjees to hang herself from a cupboard, dismissing the claim that her height made it virtually impossible.

The son also pointed out a bruise on her arm, suggesting that it might have resulted from a physical altercation with her husband.

Despite their belief that it could be a case of suicide, the children emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and called upon the authorities to conduct a fair probe to uncover the truth.

The son further clarified that their family wants a partial inquiry, allowing the police and law agencies to conduct their investigation and arrive at a conclusion.

He expressed their desire for a fair probe into the matter and also sought information about the stranger or debt owner who used to call her

The police have arrested the deceased woman’s husband under Section 306 of the law, which deals with abetment of suicide, while they continue their diligent search for more evidence to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Meanwhile SSP Sopore Shabir Nawab said that the police are committed to conducting a thorough investigation in accordance with the law, hoping to bring clarity and closure to this heartrending case.
