Sopore : In a heartening display of unity and creativity, a successful program for differently-abled individuals was organized in Sopore town, of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The event, a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Labour and Employment along with Municipal Council Sopore, brought together a diverse group of specially-abled individuals hailing from various parts of north Kashmir.
A highlight of the event was an inspiring drawing competition, where these talented individuals showcased their artistic prowess with the theme ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ (My Soil, My Country), aligning with the ongoing ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (Grand Festival of Freedom) celebrations.
The vibrant and expressive artworks underscored the strength of unity and self-expression within this remarkable community.
ADC Sopore Shabir Raina, SDPO Dr Raies Ahmad, MC President Masrat Rasool Kar, CEO Tariq Reshi, Councilor Irfan Ali, and ZEO Abdul Salam Dar, among other dignitaries, led the program.
MC President Masrat Rasool Kar, speaking to the media, underscored the importance of such initiatives in acknowledging the capabilities of differently-abled individuals.
She expressed optimism that these programs would foster a greater sense of security, bolster morale, and empower these individuals to realize their potential as integral members of the community.
The event saw the registration of around 30 new participants on the day, adding to the existing roster of 18,000 registered artisans.
Additionally, ten skilled transgender artisans were given the platform to showcase their talents, adding to the program’s inclusivity.
Details of participants from different districts highlighted the program’s outreach efforts.
There were 20 participants who were deaf and mute, 100 visually impaired participants, and 50 beneficiaries from district Baramulla, with an equal number of pass-out beneficiaries.
