Kupwara, July 17: Contrary to government promise, scores of people from Kupwara district are suffering on a daily basis courtesy dilapidated conditions of roads in the district. While the administration has turned deaf ear to the local residents suffering.
As per the reports, the most affected areas in North Kashmir’s Kupwara region is Keran Machil. The entire network of this roadway in this border district is thoroughly decrepit and journey along these roads is excruciatingly wearisome besides being dangerous at several places.
The residents are arms up against the local administration as they have failed to redress the issues of the local population.
“We prefer to walk instead of using vehicles in such worse road conditions. The condition is so bad that every now and day, accidents take place, and many innocent lives are lost”, said Ikhlaq, a locale.
“Nobody is listening to the miseries of local people, nor administration nor municipal bodies, where are we supposed to go. It feels like we are living in the medieval period”, said Shahmema, a resident of Border village.
“The Kupwara administration must answer, where they have spent millions of rupees provided by the Jammu and Kashmir government. There are potholes everywhere, the distance which should take 10 to 15 minutes take around 30 to 40 minutes”, she added.
Xen R&B Kupwara Gurdev Singh told this reporter, he said, “Department is working hard to macadamize all these inner and link roads so that people will not suffer. Moreover, 90 % of roads are macadamized, however, there are any areas, where conditions of roads are bad, we will look into it.
