He said that the dilapidated conditions of the colony stretch as well as the caved in drain is posing a threat to the lives of commuters and needs to be repaired at an earliest.

Since authorities erracted the road dividers across the town, the HMVs started entering the mohalla, which resulted in severe damage of road stretch and drain besides, a reason for accidents, Tariq added.

Similarly, the residents who were assembled at the locality were up in arms and also alleged that sub-standard material was used in the construction of the drain. “The drain constructed is not in a position to withstand the load of even a light vehicle”, they said.

“It’s a matter of concern which needs to be addressed at an earliest”, they added.

They, however, appealed to the authorities to ban the movement of heavy motor vehicles from plying through the interiors of the colony, saying movement of HMVs is reason for road damage as well as the accidents, as this is a residential area and plying of public transport especially HMVs are dangerous and need to be banned.

Meanwhile, an official in the administration told KNO that the issue will be looked into and will be redressed at the earliest so that people may not face any inconvenience—(KNO)
