SRINAGAR, AUGUST 19: Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today visited Baramulla and Bandipora districts where he inspected various orchards and fruit plant nurseries.
During the visit, Director Horticulture inspected Departmental Fruit Plant Nursery Pattan where he was briefed about the various varieties which are being propagated. He instructed the officers for propagation of only those varieties having good acceptance in the field.
Instructions were also given to the nursery staff to work with added zeal and zest. He also visited various orchards in Baramulla and directed the field officers to maintain a close liaison with the growers and orchardists so that they get the timely technical knowhow about orchard management, spraying and benefits of various welfare schemes.
During the tour, members of Fruit Growers Association, Sopore also interacted with the Director who put forth various demands. The Director assured the fruit growers that possibilities of fulfilling all of their genuine demands shall be explored.
Later, the Director Horticulture also visited various orchards of Sumbal area of District Bandipora along with Chief Horticulture Officer, Bandipora and concerned field staff where the infestation of Alternaria in some orchards has been reported which is however under check.
Directions were given to the officers to provide every possible support and guidance to the orchardists for remedial measures to be adopted as per spray schedule so that damage to fruit crop can be prevented. Instructions were also given to all the staff of the Department to remain available for orchardists of their respective areas.
