As part of a series of events and in commemoration of World Environment Week, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, under the aegis of the J&K Legal Services Authority and in collaboration with the NGO Kashmir Concern, organized a plantation drive on 08/06/2024. The event was chaired by Mr. Jawad Ahmed, Chairman, DLSA Srinagar.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Jawad Ahmed, who planted a sapling of a Deodar plant. Mr. Jahangir Ahmed Bakshi, Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, Dr. Touseef Ahmed Bhatt, Chairman of the NGO Kashmir Concern (Green Kashmir Revolution), Legal Aid Defense Counsels (LADCs), and officials of DLSA Srinagar, along with law students from Vitasta Law College who were currently interning with DLSA Srinagar, also participated in the initiative and planted various plant saplings.
The main purpose of the event was to emphasize the importance of protecting the environment and to inspire individuals to take action towards mitigating the impact of climate change. The plantation drive was a step towards creating a greener and healthier environment for the people of Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jawad Ahmed, Chairman, DLSA Srinagar, emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development. He appreciated the efforts of DLSA Srinagar and Kashmir Concern in organizing the event.
The event was attended by officials, Legal Aid Defense Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Srinagar, and law students from Vitasta Law College. The plantation drive was a huge success, with a large number of saplings planted during the event.
