Srinagar, June 16 : A doctor in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has been suspended for refusing to treat patient.
In an order copy which lies with Kashmir Despatch reads, Whereas, one Sh. Mohammad Shafi Ganie complained to the undersigned on phone at 10:30 PM on 15/06/2020 alleging that the doctor on duty at PHC Saidiwara namely Dr. Nisar Ahmad did not attend his ailing daughter on the pretext that they were not wearing face masks. The doctor refused to examine the patient despite in emergency.
Whereas the refusal of the doctor is beyond medical ethics, the doctor instead of refusing the patient should have provided mask or else asked the patient to cover her mouth with a cloth, but refusing the medical examination when it is needed utmost is criminal on part of the doctor.
The doctor has endangered the life of patient, which is unbecoming of the public servant especially a doctor.
Taking all the facts in consideration, Dr. Nisar Ahmad, Medical Officer, PHC Saidiwara is placed under suspension for dereliction of duties and attached with Chief Medical Officer, Kulgam with immediate efect. Chief Medical Officer, Kulgam shall conduct an enquiry into the matter and furnish a detailed report within 5 days positively.
Block Medical Officer, Qazigund to have in place revised roaster for PHC Saidiwara so that people do not suffer the order copy reads.
