Srinagar, Aug 21: A meeting of executive members of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) was held today at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar in which Dr Arshad Ali was unanimously elected as new General Secretary of the Doctors’ body.
A graduate from SKIMS Medical College Bemina, Dr Arshad is currently working as a senior medical officer at SDH Chadoora.
As a senior executive member of DAK, he has played a pivotal role in running the affairs of DAK.
Speaking on the occasion, DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan said under the leadership of new General Secretary, the association will touch a new dimension.
“I am hopeful that he will be concentrating on maintaining the purity and sanctity of medical profession and will work to reinvent the age old bond between doctors and patients,” he said.
“His contribution in fight against spurious drugs will be remembered for a long time to come,” he added.
Dr Arshad in his address said it is an honor and privilege to be the General Secretary of a scientific body which looks after the well being of the community.
“I will do everything to strengthen the pillars of the association,” he said.
“People have huge expectations from doctors and we should try to do our best to fulfill those expectations,” said Dr Arshad.
“We need to rebuild the trust between doctors and patients that is so essential for patient satisfaction,” he said adding we have a social responsibility too, and it is an obligation on all of us to raise issues of public concern.”
