Dr Veeri condemneds highway restriction, calls for revocation

Date:

Srinagar: National Conference South Kashmir Zone president and former MLC Dr. Veeri has sharply reacted to the highway closure for two days in a week.

Veer said that the ban not only alianates people of the Valley but also affects the normal life of Students, business community in the South and will have a negative affect on the state politically and economically.

“Such hasty decisions are against the logic and will end up driving people further away from mainstream. Such order should be revoked without any delay,” veeri said.

Dr Veeri said that such decisions were not taken even during the most volitile times in Kashmir. He said that the ahead of agricultural season, the highway acts as a principal route for transportation of fruits and other material. He said that the closure of this route twice a week will end up affecting businesses.

Veeri also said that students have been always at the receiving end during any situation and highway closure will add to their problems.

“PM have been claiming that he wants to see pens and laptops in hands of Kashmiri youth, but the reality is that such decesions will drive students further away from education as their education is always affected during any kind of volitile situation in Kashmir,” veeri said.

“I hope that the decision will be revoked and a plan will be charted that won’t take a toll on local population,” he added.
