Driver arrested in hit and run case in Karnah

Tangdhar, May 29: The Jammu and Kashmir police in north Kashmir’s kupwara district has arrested a driver in a hit and run case on Friday.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that a diver was arrested Friday who on Thursday fled after hitting a minor boy and was on run since then but was under the radar.

The driver was arrested on Friday morning by a team of local police and lodged him under the relevant sections, the official said.

He said the driver managed to flee from the sport after hitting the minor and injuring him critically who after given first aid locally was shifted to Sher E Kashmir Institute Of Medical Science (SKIMS) Srinagar for advanced treatment.

Station House Officer (SHO), Karnah, Waseem Ahmad also confirmed the arrest of driver to this newspaper and said further investigation is underway.

A police spokesperson said that a case FIR number, 38/2020 stands registered against the driver and more investigation into the incident is going on.
