GANDERBAL: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and siezed an illegal drug from him.
Police in a statement said, during a drive aginst drug mafia, a peddler was apprehended along with illegal drugs in Saffapora Ganderbal.
Details reveal that, in view of enhanced anti social activities by miscreants, who have been taking wrong advantage of the prevailing situation, a special team from Police Station Saffapora, headed by SI Sajad Khanday, SHO Saffapora, under the close supervision and guidance of Dy SP S M Shafi- JKPS and under the able and courageous leadership of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal- JKPS, laid a snap naka at Kolpora Saffapora and during surprise checking, intercepted one white color Alto Car, bearing Registration number JK02AC/2111, driven by one person Ishfaq Ahmad Ganaie S/O Ab Rasheed Ganaie R/O Ranbir Garh Shalteng Srinagar. On thorough frisking of the vehicle a contraband of NDPS drugs was recoverd from the vehicle which was found to be kept cleverly inside the vehicle by the driver.
Although the accused person tried to cross the naka point trickishly but anyhow he was apprehended by Police Party of Police Station Safapora, without any further inconvenience.
Accordingly appropriate legal procedures were invoked to initiate criminal proceedings into the matter. To this effect an FIR No. 18/2020, U/S 8/21, NDPS Act. has been lodged in the Police Station Saffapora Ganderbal.
The team was encouraged by the public and their work was appreciated by all. It has been reiterated by the Ganderbal Police that a zero tolerance mode shall continue against drugs and drug peddlers till the emergence of drugs free society. Public has expressed satisfaction over the performance of police and the police leadership in the district. Efforts are on to unearth the drugs nexus in the district and in coming days more and more culprits would be nabbed and brought to be booked under law.
The arrest constitutes the seventh arrest in a row during last one month.
