Drug Abuse in Kashmir: Awareness programme held in Tral

PULWAMA, Aug 11: An awareness programme on ‘drug abuse’ was held in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.

The programme was organised by Hindustan Scouts and Guides, J&K at AKMAL Institute High School Tral, in which large number of students participated.

On the occasion, a well known social activist and Chairman Citizen Council, Tral, Farooq Trali, along with SDPO Tral, Mubashir Rasool were the chief guests.

The speakers from Hindustan Scouts and Guides organisation deliberated upon the importance of awareness programmes in schools, particularly about drug abuse.

While addressing the participants, Chairman, Citizens Council Tral, Farooq Trali said that conducting programmes on ‘Drug Abuse’ is the need of the hour, as such programmes play a vital role in controlling this menace.

He said that after participating in such programmes, the youngsters, particularly students try their best to stay away from drugs.

Besides speakers, several students of the school also delivered their speech on drug abuse, and asked the participants to stay away from it.  The students who spoke on the dice were appreciated by the organisers of the programme, for their brilliant performance.

Pertinently, Secretary of the organisation, Peerzada Syed Ahmad, besides its District Organising Commissioner Aamir Mohiudin were also present in the programme. As per the organisers, such type of awareness programmes would be conducted in future as well.
