Handwara, Jun 26 : A drug de-addiction awareness programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary Ashpora Qaziabad in north Kashmir’s Handwara on Wednesday.
Students, teachers and other people of the area participated in the event which was part of awareness campaign of the institute to prevent drug abuse.
On the occasion students, teachers of the institute highlighted objectives of the event and presented scenario of drug abuse in Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion Lecturer Abdul Gani Dar said that the focus of the programme was to provide insight to the students about the seriousness of drug addiction.
Other speakers also stressed on the importance of such programme inorder to educate students about the menace of alcohol, drugs and substance abuse. They said that drug abuse has become a major social concern and student has become very vulnerable to fall into the trap.
On the closing of the event in-charge Principal of BHHS Ashpora thanked all the students and speakers for highlighting the role of drug menace in valley.
Besides, students,civil society members, representatives and other prominent sections of the society attended the programme.
