In a significant achievement, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, has successfully secured the conviction of one accused involved in interstate drug trafficking.
This case relates to a seizure made on 03.09.2022, when acting on specific intelligence, officers of the NCB Ahmedabad Zonal Unit has seized 143 grams of Mephedrone (MD) & Methaphetamine (gross weight) from a Maruti Zen car at Shah Alam Dargah, Ahmedabad, Gujarat and arrested Mohammad Samir Jamilbhai Sheikh S/o Jamilbhai Sheikh from the spot.
A complaint in this matter was filed before the Hon’ble NDPS Court, Ahmedabad City (Spl. Court under NDPS Act, Ahmedabad City) in March 2023. On 06/10/2025, the Court, underscoring the NCB’s commitment to eradicating drug-related crime, convicted the accused Samir Jamilbhai Sheikh S/o Jamilbhai Sheikh and awarded him a sentence of 15 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) along with a fine of ₹2 lakh under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 for his involvement in this heinous crime against society.
This conviction will send a clear and strong message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated. The meticulous investigation and diligent prosecution by the NCB team have ensured that a drug trafficker is brought to justice, protecting our community from the scourge of substance abuse.
