Bandipora, Dec. 28: Three anganwadi centers were seized by Panchayt body in Markot village of Gurez, Bandipora due to unauthorized absence of employees and lack of food.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, the locals said that several Anganwadi centers have been closed due to unauthorized absence of employees for several days, due to which food was not catered to the children.
“Several anganwadi centers are in a mess due to unauthorised absence of employees and lack of food,” Mohd Suliman, a resident of Gurez’s Dawar village said while speaking with Kashmir Despatch.
“The unauthorized absence is taking a heavy toll on residents and most of the employees move to Bandipora or other parts of the district to avoid the harsh Gurezi winter,” said Farooq Ahmad, a local resident from Tulail area of Gurez.
As the anganwadi centers were found locked from last two months, Panchayat body conducted an inspection under the supervision of Sarpanch of Markot and found that three Anganwadi centers are not functioning in Markot village of Gurez.
The residents appealed the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to took cognizance of the matter as soon as possible.
