Earth Day observed in Bandipora

BANDIPORA, April 22: J& K Students Welfare Mission(NGO) and SAKHI- One Stop Centre Bandipora, J&K in collaboration with Bandipora Eco – Watch has observed a day long Earth Day Orientation programme here at Bandipora, J&K.

During the said programme, JKSWM and SAKHI One Stop Centre, Bandipora have conducted many Earth Day related activities in a very flair, spirit and environment friendly strategy.


Miss Ishrat Ayoub, Centre Administrator speaks a lot about their Earth Day and stresses that Each Day is Earth Day, as we are very happy to have this heritage. “The action filled in their activities speaks louder than words”, she adds.


Miss Shahida Bashir, IT Personal, OSC Bandipora gave a detailed presentation about Solid Waste Management and the strategy to save our mother earth by proper solid waste management practices.


Miss Afshana Hassan, while delivery a beautiful speech about Each Day Earth Day, said that world celebrates earth day every year on 22nd April. This year too we are celebrating the EARTH DAY with zest and zeal with this year’s theme “Invest in Our Planet”.
Afshana said “Earth Day is a day for celebrating the natural world. Earth Day happens one day every year. However, the aim of this day is to encourage people to remember to care for the environment every single day not only on this particular day.”

Miss Jameela Akhter while highlighting the role of people in conservation of Earth said that this Day is celebrated in several ways: environmental campaigns both online and in the local community, fairs, educational events and much much more are all parts of Earth Day. Each year, the theme of Earth Day will vary and this year’s theme is “Invest in Our Planet”.
Miss Rubeena Bashir, Coordinator JKSWM deliberated the role of government and other agencies working for the biodiversity and the earth. She said that government is also doing a lot for the conservation and preservation of our mother earth but at the same time, it’s responsibility of us all as common people to have concerns of our earth. We are lucky to have this blue dot – the earth as our residential platform.
Miss Shabnam Shaban, OSC staff while undertaking various related activities said that SAKHI – One Stop Centre, Bandipora in collaboration with District Administration, Bandipora under the supervision of Dr. Owais Ahmad (IAS), District Development Commissioner, Bandipora and with collaborative support from it’s implementing organization, J&K Students Welfare Mission observed a day long campaign under the program “Invest in Our Planet” took various activities and cleanup drive of it’s premises and to spread awareness about Earth Day by taking various initiatives. The whole program was divided into various activities and each part was carried out accordingly in a well coordinated and enthusiastic manner from seminar speeches, cleanup drives to poster makings. These activities also include Earth Day Pledge, Awareness about earth day at OSC Premises, Cleanliness drives at OSC, Cleanliness drives, Webinar about Earth Day, Poster Makings, Cleanliness and Earth Day Mesages to various stakeholders and Concluding Ceremony with Pledge to remain always practicing the same and to observe each day as earth day.
In the said event, Er. Altaf Rasool, Director, Bandipora Eco-Watch emphasized that all of these activities were conducted to lighten to the audiences the importance of Earth Day and adoption of these green habits in their routine acts. He appreciated the efforts of all the team members and SAKHI – One Stop Centre Bandipora for its active role. Miss Mehnaz Rasool, who were the dice incharge during the said event highlighted and appreciated the performance of the organizations for their all type support, coordination and cooperation in every aspect with special focus on cleanliness at work culture.
While mentioning role of team members, Miss Mehnaza presented warm vote of thanks to all the participants and speakers for wonderful contributions and commitments on this special day – The Earth Day.
