Srinagar, Aug 7: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Top officials told Kashmir Despatch that the delegation will be arriving in Srinagar tomorrow.
The EC, led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, is scheduled to meet national and regional political parties at 11:15 am, followed by discussions with district commissioners and superintendents of police at 2:00 pm.
The day long busy schedule of the EC team will conclude with a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer, senior police officials, and Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) nodal officers at 7:00 pm, they said.
“On August 9, the team will meet with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police in Srinagar at 9:00 am before travelling to Jammu at 11:40 am. In Jammu, the Commission includes a meeting with enforcement agencies at 1:00 pm, a press conference at 2:30 pm, and a return trip to Delhi at 4:40 pm, arriving back by 6:15 pm,” they added.
