KD NEWS SERVICE

NEW DELHI, Mar 22: To ensure a seamless electoral process ahead of upcoming elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI), under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, has directed a nationwide series of grassroots-level meetings with political parties. These meetings, aimed at resolving any pending polling booth-level issues, are actively being conducted at the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), District Election Officer (DEO), and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) levels across the country.

As part of this initiative, 4,123 EROs from across all Assembly Constituencies (ACs) are holding all-party meetings to address concerns and ensure compliance with the provisions of the Representation of the People (RP) Act 1950 & 1951, Registration of Elector Rules 1960, Conduct of Election Rules 1961, and ECI guidelines issued from time to time. Similarly, all 788 DEOs and 36 CEOs from 28 States and 8 Union Territories (UTs) have been directed to hold similar meetings to address district and state/UT-level issues within the legal framework.

Nationwide Participation and Proactive Response

Political parties, along with their authorized representatives such as Booth Level Agents (BLAs), Polling Agents, Counting Agents, and Election Agents, are playing an active role in these discussions. The initiative, which began immediately after the March 4, 2025, Conference of CEOs held at IIIDEM, New Delhi, has been welcomed by political parties, with their enthusiastic participation being observed in meetings across ACs, districts, and states/UTs.

These meetings are scheduled to be completed by March 31, 2025, ensuring that any pending issues at the grassroots level are addressed in a time-bound manner. Political parties have been urged by the Commission to actively engage with electoral authorities and take advantage of these proactive measures to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.

ECI’s Call for Proactive Engagement

The Commission emphasized the importance of this grassroots-level engagement, highlighting the critical role played by political parties in electoral processes. The initiative has not only provided a platform to resolve pending polling booth-level issues but has also strengthened collaboration between political parties and electoral authorities.

Photo Documentation and Transparency

To maintain transparency and public trust, photos of these meetings held across the country have been made available on the official social media handle of ECI, accessible at:

The ECI remains committed to fostering a transparent and inclusive electoral process through active dialogue and collaboration with all stakeholders.
