Bandipora, Apr 10 : Eid joy of north Kashmir’s Bandipora families turned to ashes after two residential houses and a shop were gutted in a fire.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that after the confirmation of the Shawal moon sighting in parts of the valley, everyone was excited to celebrate Eid with their families. However, the celebration of Ashtangoo Bandipora family were tragically cut short as the fire erupted at around 2:30 in the midnight, engulfing a bakery shop and two houses belonging to Mohd Sultan Ganie and Gh Mohd Ganie.
Reports said that despite the efforts of the locals who rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames, the houses were reduced to ashes. Fortunately, with the combined efforts of the community and fire tenders, other nearby houses were saved from catching fire.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, The affected families are now homeless and the local residents are urging the authorities to compensate them so that they can rebuild their houses without further suffering.
