Says No Cost for Consumers to Address Concerns at the Consumer Commission; White Paper Complaints Will Be Acted Upon

Baramulla, December 14: Amid the alleged looting in the name of sales in different parts of the northern region of Kashmir, The Consumer Commission Department reacted and appealed to those who feel cheated to come forward with just one complaint so that their concerns would be addressed.

Nyla Yaseen, a member of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Baramulla, emphasized the importance of consumers checking the authenticity of products before making a purchase.

In an interview with Kashmir Despatch, Yaseen stated that consumers should not hesitate to verify factors such as expiration dates, rates, and quality. By exercising their right to check product authenticity, consumers can protect themselves from scams or counterfeit goods.

Yaseen also warned against companies falsely claiming to sell healthy juices and soft drinks and urged consumers to raise their voice if they feel cheated.

She advised consumers to thoroughly check products, including examining the ISI mark, regardless of advertisements.

Yaseen assured the public that the consumer commission is always open and no fees are required to lodge a complaint.

She further stated that even a single complaint would be taken seriously and resolved within two years.

She said that there is no need to hire an advocate to lodge any complaint with the consumer commission department.

Nyla stated that on just a white paper complaint will be taken, and cognizance will be taken even without paying a single coin fee.

Pertinently, Numerous complaints have been reported in the past months against many commercial units that have allegedly deceived people with fake sales. This has caused frustration and distress for the customers who have fallen victim to these fraudulent practices.

In a recent incident at Hygam Sopore, a commercial outlet was temporarily sealed by authorities after allegations of fraud surfaced. This action demonstrates that the departments are determined to protect the rights and interests of consumers.

The issue gained significant attention, prompting the departments to swiftly swing into action and launch investigations into the alleged loot in the name of sales. This proactive response gives hope to the affected customers that justice will be served, and measures will be taken to prevent such fraudulent activities in the future.

By encouraging and supporting the public to come forward with their grievances, the Consumer Commission Department is ensuring transparency and accountability in the business sector. This move promotes trust and confidence among the customers, reassuring them that their concerns are being heard and will be addressed promptly.
