Govt will set up best cricket ground in Surasyar : Add Secy YSS
Budgam August 14th : The Surasyar Premier League -SPL cricket tournament concluded on Sunday at Khudwani cricket ground Surasyar Chadoora where the final match was played between PCC Surasyar and LCC Dadompora. Additional Secretary to Govt Youth Services and Sports Department (YSS) Raja Waseem was chief guest on the occasion.
The cricket tournament was sponsored by Sajad Medicos Surasyar herein more than one dozen teams had participated.
LCC Dadaompora smashed 171 runs in 20 overs. Ishfaq from LCC Dadaompora made 51 runs. The players of FCC Surasyar played well and there was a neck to neck fight at the end.
Due to loose fielding from LCC Dadaompora , the FCC Surasyar players managed to get around two to three boundaries in their kitty which helped them to win the match. Parvaiz Ahmad Parra from the Surasyar team smashed several sixes and boundaries and made 70 runs. Riyaz Ahmad Wani Captain LCC Dadaompora was given an award for being the most disciplined player of the tournament. He was also chosen as man of the series. Additional Secretary YSS Department Raja Waseem while addressing the youth and players assured them that Govt would explore ways and means to set up a good cricket ground in Surasyar. He also assured that more cricket tournaments would be held in Surasyar and other far flung areas of Budgam in the coming months by the Youth Services and Sports Department.
Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat appreciated the organisers Sajad Ahmad and Aqib Rasool for organising the tournament. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs.
