41 more fresh cases reported on Saturday

Sopore, June 27 : Fear and frustration among residents of Sopore after the rapid increase in COVID-19 positive cases since past week.
Coronavirus positive cases continued a trouble spike this week for the residents of Sopore town as 41 more fresh cases were reported today.
Talking with Kashmir Despatch an official said the increase in COVID cases is a worrisome sign. He said fear has returned to Sopore residents after the town witnessed rapid growth of positive cases for this virus this week. He said situation in town are getting dangerous as many people are getting infected with this virus.
A health official told this newspaper that 100 cases of COVID-19 positive are active who are undergoing treatment at designated COVID hospital in Sopore.
Amid fear due to the sudden rise in cases, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla in a statement ordered complete lockdown in the town to tackle this virus.
While following the instructions of DC Baramulla, all shops and other business establishments remained closed on Saturday.
As authorities in north Kashmir’s Sopore reimposed COVID lockdown restrictions, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole Saturday visited the town to review measures being taken by the administration for prevention and control of Covid-19.
Divisional Commisioner in his visit to town took stock of the arrangements put in place for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. He also inspected the administrative quarantine SRM Welkin an official said.
During the visit Div Com directed health functionaries of Sopore to gear up their activities and work with zeal, zest and dedication so that the patients so far affected with virus are provided better health care facilities.
