Football tournament conducted by Army concludes

Bandipora Sep 17 : The football tournament organised by 26 Assam Rifles of the Indian Army concluded on Saturday at Watlab area of Bandipora in north Kashmir.

Total ten teams from different villages of Bandipora participated in the tournament.

The final match of the tournament was played between Shukur-Ud-Din FC Keheneusa and Aloosa Football club with locals turned in large numbers to watch the match and appreciated the Army for promoting locals in the field of sports.

The outcome of the match was not decided in the normal time and was taken to penalties where Shukur-UD-Din FC beat Aloosa FC by 4-2.

The winner-up team was awarded ten thousand cash prizes while the runner-up team was awarded with six thousand cash prize besides both teams were given certificates and trophies.

“The players were extremely happy and thanked the Army for organizing such tournament that gives a platform to sportspersons to excel in their sports said Azhar from Kehenusa”.

Speaking to the Kashmir Despatch one of the players from Aloosa Mohd Hussain Bhat said that these tournaments help them to show their talent in sports field and keeps them away from Drugs. We hope more sports events will be conducted in future for the younger generations of this district.
