Sopore, Jan 06: Masrat Rasool Kar, the former President of the Municipal Council (MC) in Sopore, met with the Honourable Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir to present a memorandum addressing the status of developmental commitments made during the LG’s visit to Baramulla and Sopore.
In the memorandum, Masrat Rasool Kar expressed gratitude to the LG for attentively addressing the issues faced by the people of Sopore during the Baramulla visit.
However, she highlighted that several commitments made by the LG had not been executed by the field functionaries of various departments, despite allocated funds for the respective schemes.
The memorandum highlights the pending approval and act of appropriation for the establishment of a Mini-Secretariat, deemed essential for decongesting the town and improving work culture. The LG is urged to consider this on a priority basis.
Concerns were raised about the stalled work on Mahrajpora Bridge and the non-initiation of work on Mazbugh Bridge and Foot Bridge Seerjagir Sopore. Masrat Rasool Kar indicated that these projects are crucial for town decongestion and the development of the fruit mandi in Sopore.
The memorandum further highlights the abrupt halt in the construction of the Indoor Games Hall at Degree College Sopore and the Community Hall. Masrat Rasool Kar urged the R&B Department to resume and expedite the completion of these approved projects.
Masrat Rasool Kar expressed concern over the Water Supply Scheme in Sopore sanctioned under “AMRUT 2.0” and requested full funding for the project to ensure its timely completion.
The memorandum recalled the LG’s commitment to provide 5 Marlas of land to the landless in urban areas, seeking necessary orders to fulfill this commitment.
The Department’s delay in the approved works under different heads and the unfulfilled proposal for a new Bus Adda with in muncipal jurisdiction of sopore were brought to the LG’s attention, urging swift action for their completion.
Masrat Rasool Kar concluded the memorandum by requesting the LG to consider the demands presented and oversee the fulfillment of the commitments made during the Baramulla visit.
