Former Minister Mohd. Sharief Niaz is no more

SRINAGAR, Oct 12: Senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammad Sharief Niaz passed away on Monday after a brief spell of illness.

Sources in the family said that the former minister had contracted COVID infection and was ailing for the last many days. “He was under treatment for almost over 15 days. Actually he had a severe problem in his lungs but he was later declared COVID negative,” sources told Kashmir Despatch.

Sources said that he died today at Government Chest Disease Hospital Jammu where he was admitted for the last over 20 days. “His body will be taken to his residence in Bhalessa-Jammu for his last rites,” sources in the family of the deceased leader told Kashmir Despatch.
