Srinagar, Nov 22 : Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam and Pulwama districts and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Police in a statement said that during naka checking at Malpora crossing, police party of Police station Khag intercepted two persons who were carrying nylon bags on shoulders and were on way from Malpora to khag after noticing police party they tried to flee from the spot, police party chased them and both the persons were tactfully apprehended on spot along with nylon bags. During questioning, the arrested persons disclosed their names as Firdous Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Ahmad Mir R/o Nusso Khag and Mohd Shafi Wani S/O Abdul Majeed wani R/O Hanji Lawipora Beerwah The seized nylon bags were opened on spot and Poppy Straw weighing 13 KGs was recovered.
Case FIR Number 65/2022 under relevant sections of law registered at Police Station Khag and investigation set into motion, police said.
Police in a statement said that during naka checking, Police party noticed two persons carrying a bag were roaming in suspicious manner. The suspected persons tried to flee from the spot after seeing police party, but with strenuous efforts and with utmost professionalism Police party nailed down the suspected persons and during their search one (1) kg of charas powder was recovered from their possession.
The accused persons have been arrested on spot identified as 1. Mohd Altaf Dar S/o Gh Mohd Dar & 2. Tariq Ahmad Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar both residents of Achan Pulwama, police said.
Accordingly, Case FIR No. 110/2022 U/S 8/20,29 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Litter and investigation is taken up, they added.
