Fresh mudslides force closure of Srinagar-Leh highway

Ganderbal, Aug 01 : The Srinagar-Leh highway was on Sunday evening closed for vehicular movement after the mudslides triggered by cloudburst occurred at Surfraw Gund area in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the highway was closed immediately after the mudslide occurred at Sumbal Bala area this evening, adding that during the heavy rainfall, a cloudburst hit Surfraw Gund area following which the mudslides occurred.

The highway has got completely blocked, they said, adding that the flow of water blocked the link road at Surfraw from Hariganiwan to Sumbal Bala.

Meanwhile, officials said that police and Ganderbal administration is on job to clear the roads—(KNO)
