GDC Ganderbal held One Day Seminar on the “Role of Moral Education in the Spiritual Rejuvenation”


Ganderbal, Mar 13: A one-day Seminar on the “Role of Moral Education in the Spiritual Rejuvenation” was organized by Department of Islamic Studies, Govt. Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal on Wednesday, March 13.

The Patron of the event was Prof. Fouzia Fatima (the worthy Principal), the Convener was Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Parray (Assistant Professor, Islamic Studies), who also gave Seminar Introduction, and the Rapporteur of the event was Prof. Shamasul Haque (AP, Sociology).

The Welcome Address was presented by Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh (Vice-Principal/ HOD, Chemistry) who formally welcomed the resource persons, highlighted the significance of the seminar theme and emphasized that “moral education is necessary for the virtues of character building, self-realization and empathy”.

In this Seminar, two Resource Persons, Dr. Moyeed-uz-Zafar (Sr. Assistant Professor/ Coordinator, Deptt. of Religious Studies, Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal) and Dr. Altaf Hussain Yatoo (Assistant Professor/ HoD, Islamic Studies, GDC Sogam, Kupwara) spoke on different dimensions of the theme. “NEP-2020 demands rejuvenate local and moral values in education”, said Dr Zafar.

Highlighting the relationship of sanctification, fasting and spirituality, Dr Yatoo emphasized that “spirituality is part of our behavior”.
The presentations were followed by a Q&A session.

At the end, Mementos and Certificates were distributed among the resource persons and organizers/ participants. The event ended with Vote of Thanks, proposed by Dr. Sheikh Tanveer Salam (Coordinator, IQAC). The event was moderated by Sahil Manzoor (6th Sem student).
The event was attended by a good number of students and faculty members.
