SRINAGAR, Aug 12: GK Education Trust and Skill Development (GKETSD) Poonch on Friday organized an event thereby celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
On this occasion, an environment of patriotism could be witnessed among the students who sung the national Anthem and honoured martyred soldiers.
“Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence of progressive India and the glorious history of its people , culture and achievements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘ by flagging off Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad on 12th March, 2021.
The celebration started 75 weeks before the 75th anniversary of Indian independence and will end on 15th August, 2023. Henceforth, all the educational institutions have been advised to celebrate “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” by organising a series of events, conference/seminar/ symposium/essay competition and related activities.
GK Educational Trust & Skill development Centre Poonch, celebrated Amrit Mahotsav today by hoisting the national flag at the premises. Students also waived national flags and sang the national anthem.
The Mahotsav started with a brief introduction by the incharge Hamid Haideri. He explained to the audience including students about the significance and importance of “Azadi” in present day life, comparing it to the lives of people prior to independence.
He also emphasized the difference between diverse cultures comprising regional, national, and colonial effects and barriers to communication because of it.
Further Haideri told the audience about the Indian flag, its importance and ignited the enthusiasm of patriotism among students. He explained the colonial power that left its footprints on independent India is endangering the local culture and languages.
The event witnessed active participation from the students and the faculty members celebrating the mark of Independence Day sharing their own experiences about the difficulties they faced due to the varsity of different languages in different regions, keeping in mind the importance of local languages and the need of the hour to promote them on various levels.
The program culminated after an hour of its commencement with Hamid Haideri vote of thanks prompting the students about the crucial role of patriotism, culture that lead to independence from colonial rule.
