IUST observes International Youth Day

PULWAMA, Aug 12: SMMCN & MT of Islamic University in Awantipora on Friday marked International Youth Day, with the theme of this year’s International Youth Day titled “Intergenerational Solidarity: creating a world for all ages”.

University Officials told Kashmir Despatch that the purpose was to spread the message that action is needed from all generations to achieve the Agenda 2030 and its 17 SDGs, and leave no one behind.

Principal Ms. Asmat Parveen expressed her thoughts on three areas; where youth need to be empowered to rebuild their trust in public institutions and enable them to become accountable stakeholders in decision making and policy design.

She also convened the programme in a view of Nurses as one of the irreplaceable health professionals who have the inherited responsibility to join the mission to implement the SDGs to reach the target in 2030. of the 17 SDGs, SDG3, SDG4, are directly related to our professional responsibility.

The students of B.sc Nursing took part in Speech competition, poster making, calligraphy and reel making as directed by J&K Nursing Council in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society.

The Dean School of Health Sciences, Principal and Faculty members of SMMCN&MT distributed prizes among students who secured the 1st , 2nd and 3rd positions in Speech/poster making/calligraphy and Reel making. The programme concluded with a rally in IUST Campus.
