Our single drop of blood can save precious lives: Dr Sehrish

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 17: Government Medical College Baramulla today organized a Blood Donation Camp under “Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav” within its premises, here.

The Camp was inaugurated by the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar and coordinated by the Principal, Government Medical College Baramulla (Prof) Dr Ruby Reshi.

The camp witnessed active participation from students and Defense personnel besides the Para medical staff of the GMC who volunteered to donate blood for this noble cause.

A Team of doctors headed by the HOD Pathology, (Prof) Dr Perveen Shah provided the necessary health services to the donors.

While encouraging the donors, the DDC said that blood donation is a noble and harmless service to humanity which benefits both, the donor as well as the recipient. She said that our single drop of blood can save precious lives and we should participate in such programmes for safeguarding humanity.

She urged people to come forward for blood donation and said that the Administration highly recognizes and appreciates the selfless service of the blood donors for the entire society.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof (Dr) Ruby Reshi said that it gives us immense contentment to be able to contribute towards our community by way of donating blood for the needy patients.

A shortage of this valuable resource has a major impact on victims of road traffic accidents and trauma victims, women with complicated pregnancies, children suffering from thalassemia, and people undergoing major surgeries, she added.
