SRINAGAR, Nov 11: The Office of the Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, has issued a circular directing all faculty members, departmental heads, paramedical staff, and students to identify and label their lockers before November 14, 2025. The directive aims to streamline the use of storage spaces across the college and the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital, Srinagar.
According to the circular, all concerned individuals have been instructed to label their lockers with their name, designation, and code. The move comes in response to the growing problem of unmarked and surplus lockers occupying valuable space in hospital corridors and college buildings.
The circular, signed by the Administrator of Associated Hospitals, emphasizes that after the deadline, Medical Superintendents of SMHS Hospital, Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) of respective floors, and the Estates-cum-Transport Officer of GMC Srinagar will conduct a thorough inspection. The teams will identify and remove any extra or unclaimed lockers that are deemed unnecessary or obstructive.
Officials have made it clear that no employee will be allowed to claim ownership of a locker once the specified deadline has passed. “No chance will be given to any employee to have any claim on the lockers that will not be identified after the specified period,” the circular stated firmly.
Additionally, the circular has directed the Section Officers, Estates Officers, and Accounts Section not to issue any Last Pay Certificate (LPC), No Objection Certificate (NOC), or service book to any employee until they have officially handed over their assigned locker. This measure is intended to ensure accountability and prevent misuse or loss of property within the institution.
Copies of the circular have been forwarded to the Principal/Dean of GMC Srinagar, the Medical Superintendent of SMHS Hospital, the Chief Accounts Officer, all Heads of Departments, and all desk officers and section heads for immediate compliance.
The move has been seen as part of a broader administrative effort to maintain discipline, ensure efficient use of space, and improve the overall functioning of the GMC and SMHS Hospital premises.
