Good Governance Week: Awareness Programme on Women Centric Schemes/ Nasha Mukt Abiyan Organised at B’la

Baramulla, December 23: In connection with “Good Governance Week” being celebrated across the district, activities are going on in full swing across Baramulla District with special focus on disposal of public grievances and highlighting benefits about various Government welfare schemes and public services.

At Baramulla, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Baramulla in collaboration with District Administration and Social Welfare Department today organized an awareness camp Regarding Women Welfare Schemes and Nasha Mukht Abhiyan at Dak Bungalow here.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the programme as the Chief guest.

On the occasion, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla appraised participants about the women welfare schemes including women helpline 181, One Stop Centre for Women, Poshan Abhiyan and others.

He also educated them about the livelihood schemes for women entrepreneurs, Indira Gandhi National old age pension scheme, pension scheme for widows, pension scheme for disabled and other women related schemes.

On the occasion, the participants were also sensitized about ill affects of Drugs under Nasha Mukht Abhiyan.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the main objective of this camp was to provide basic information to potential women beneficiaries at their doorsteps and to ensure their enrollment in various beneficiary-oriented, welfare, and self-employment programmes. She further urged the women to come forward and avail the benefits under various women centric schemes meant for the socio-economic development.

The DC while addressing with regard to Nasha Mukt Abiyan said that various departments working in the field of drug counseling, care and management need to put joint collaborative efforts where all the partners could join hands together to weed out the social evil of drugs.

She said that we need to stop the supply of drugs and provide proper treatment to drug-addicts and help them to get rid of this addiction.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner distributed certificates among the beneficiaries of Self Help Groups (SHGs) presented by Agriculture Department.

Among others, representative of One Stop Centre Baramulla, District Legal Services Authority, Women Hub, District Hub for Women Empowerment of Women were present on the occasion.
