Govt Abolishes Interviews For Selection To Various Posts

SRINAGAR, Aug 11: The Government has ordered doing away with oral tests or interviews for Level-6 posts which shall be filled up on the basis of written test only.

The posts include Motor Vehicle Inspector, Junior Stenographer, Library Assistant, Inspector Fisheries/ Farm Manager/ Equivalent, Assistant/ Surveyor Fisheries/ Equivalent, Refrigerator Mechanic, Incubator Mechanic and Junior Engineer (Civil and Mechanical).

The government said that it was major decision aimed at increasing efficiency, transparency and timely conclusion of recruitment process

“In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India, the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to direct that there shall be no oral test/interview for the posts (detailed as Annexure-A to the notification) and the selection for all such posts shall be made on the basis of written test only, with the further stipulation that trade test/skill test wherever prescribed shall continue to be held as per the relevant recruitment rules,” reads the notification.

The decision, an official statement issued here said, shall ensure that selections are objectively fair and merit based, and it paves the way for advertisement of more than 1000 posts including 855 posts of Junior Engineer (Civil) which shall be filled up on a fast-track basis through the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board.

Further, the Lieutenant Governor has also directed the identification of posts of similar nature which can be considered for exclusion from the requirement of Oral Test/Interview, for which the process has also been initiated by the General Administration Department.
