‘Situation has improved a lot post August 5; police doing commendable services’

Srinagar, Dec 04 :  Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Girish Chandera Murmu Wednesday said that the internet services across Kashmir will be restored in a phased manner when the situation becomes more normal and that the overall situation post Article 370 revocation had improved to a large extent.

According to wire service— this is for the first time that the J&K Government has cleared air on restoring the internet services that were snapped on August 5 morning across Jammu and Kashmir.  Murmu while talking to media persons on the sidelines of the Passing out parade in north Kashmir’ Baramulla district said that the situation in the Valley is very good as it has improved very well.

He added that the situation has improved very well as police has been performing their services vehemently, adding that the high-level coordination between the forces has led to the improvement in the situation. “The participation of people across the Valley is very good. I have recently mentioned it in my speech that people are also coming out and they are interested in the development,” he added.

About the restoration internet services across Kashmir, the LG Murmu said that the services will be restored once the situation becomes more normal as it is at present. The internet services across Jammu and Kashmir was suspended on August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories.

The government had stated that the services were suspended to maintain law and order in the Valley. “We are reviewing the situation and as it becomes more normal, we will restore the internet services in phase wise. We have already discussed the matter with our administration and we will take it up,” he added. The LG while showering praises on the J&K police said that the force is doing commendable role on multiple fronts and is the country’s best force. (KNO)
