Srinagar, Oct 29 : The government is unlikely to allow the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders to visit their incarcerated party president, Mehbooba Mufti.
The party leaders headed by its General Secretary from Jammu region, Ved Mahajan had on Monday sought permission from the government to meet the party president.
Sources told the wire service that the government is unlikely to allow the party leaders to meet their president. “It has been learnt that the government has rejected the permission letter by the PDP leaders,” sources said.
They said that the authorities have informally informed the PDP leaders that they will not be allowed to meet their president, adding that the formal rejection letter in this regard will be sent to the party soon.
Earlier in September, the PDP leaders had sought the permission from the government to meet the party president, a day after the National Conference (NC) leaders met their party president and incumbent parliamentarian, Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
However, the leaders couldn’t catch up with their president due to unknown reasons and shot a fresh letter to the concerned officials, seeking permission to meet the party president, who is also former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
