Gunfight breaks out in Sopore

Sopore, July 12 : Gunfight rages between militants and government forces in Reban area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday night.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a joint team of Army’s 22 RR, Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Reban area of Sopore on Saturday late evening.

Reports said as the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed to Kashmir Despatch the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants.

As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Pertinently, last month a civilian, CRPF soldier were killed in a militant attack in Sopore.
