Srinagar, April 25 : An encounter broke out between militants and forces in Gonipora area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Ananthnag district.
Official sources told Kashmir Despatch that Cordon and Search Operation was launched by Army’s 50 RR, 130 BN CRPF and SOG in the area after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Searching party was attached by hidding militants triggering an encounter.
A police officer also confirmed and said contact has been established.
Firing from both sides was on when last reports came in.
