Gunfight Rages In Bijbhera

Srinagar, June 30 : A gunfight broke out in Waghama area of Bijbhera in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district between militants and forces this morning.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that a joint team of Army’s 03 RR, SOG and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Waghama area of Bijbhera in Anantnag after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected house the hiding militants fired upon searching party triggering an encounter.

As per reports two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

A police officer also confirmed to Kashmir Despatch and said contact has been established with hiding militants and firing from both sides is on.

Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on.
