Sopore, May 04 : An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in north Kashmir’s Sopore village on Tuesday.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that a joint team of Army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Nathipora Sopore following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
He said as soon as forces encircled the target house the hidding militants opened fire on them thus triggering a gunfight.
A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that contact has been established and firing from both sides is on.
Pertinently, sources said that a local militant who went missing two days before is reportedly trapped in the area.
