‘Gupkar Declaration’ is nowhere on ground: Shoaib Lone

Date:

‘Beigh’s decision to quit PDP wrong’

Suhail Khan

BARAMULLA, Nov 20: Apni Party district president and former legislator Shoaib Lone on Friday said that Gupkar Declaration seems nowhere on ground as many political leaders who were denied mandates by their restive parties who are in Peoples Alliance of Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) have left and are now contesting independently for DDC elections.

In an interview with Kashmir Despatch, Lone lashed out at PGDA saying that the political parties in PAGD are hungry for power and their politics is only meant for seeking power and positions.

He said that the leaders who were earlier affiliated with PAGD waited for their party mandates and once they were not allowed to contest on party tickets they are now contesting against PAGD candidates.

“They are just practicing power politics wherein they only befool people,” Lone remarked.

He said that contesting elections is good but not the way PAGD has chosen to contest the DDC elections.

Apni Party leader said: “Why is PAGD now fighting with each other as earlier they claimed to have come under one umbrella for safeguarding the Kashmir cause?”

Lone said that Apni Party is in election fray and is suppos1ed to contest against political parties including BJP.

Terming the decision of former PDP minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh’s ‘a wrong decision’ Lone  said that despite being the founder member of PDP, he should have not quit the party for normal DDC elections. “It is said that he left the Party just because his wife did not get the mandate for DDC elections from the constituency of her choosing..!” Lone said, adding that the decision according to him was not wise as Beigh had played an important role in forming the PDP.

Apni Party district president Baramulla said that people are only targeting his party allegedly for being backed by BJP which is completely baseless as this party was formed just to work for the betterment of society and for the welfare of people.

He said Apni Party will fight against BJP and will work for the development of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said this is just a way to mislead people by giving Apni Party an unfounded and baseless tag.

Lone said that those political leaders who gave space to BJP in Jammu and Kashmir and formed government with them are targeting Apni Party which is fighting against the communal forces.

Lone appealed people not to boycott and caste their vote in favour of their right candidate who can serve them better.
